Problems with Wedding Cake

LLT and I have a wedding cake due on Sunday. Last week it suddenly occured to us that we had never gotten an invitation to the wedding, or any information such as the address, time the hall opened for set up, or even a confirmation as to how many people are expected. We seem to remember 80? but we're not sure. All we know is the design and flavors of the cake.

I got more details thanks to another friend, but it would be nice to have some contact with the bride or groom. So I've posted in my journal for the bride to call me, sent a text message to the groom, and have e-mailed the bride. No response.

This is not good. We REALLY need to have this information by Thursday. We're even starting to question whether they still want us to do the cake.

Unfortuantely, we do not have any phone numbers for the bride or groom. So I'm making a request. If someone here has contact information for cussata or lalartu could you have them contact me? I'm posting this as public but I will do an immediate friends only post with contact information.

Living in a politically correct world

Ever wonder what damage is caused by living in a PC world? This morning I became aware of the current fuss going on in Prince William’s county, raised by one letter. Because he was trying to make a point about how a song mentioning the devil was welcomed in a public school marching band performance but songs mentioning god are not, he single-handedly (and unintentionally) got the song pulled from the band’s playlist. Two weeks before the award winning band’s major yearly competition.

I’d like to point out that according to the radio story I heard this morning (when I became aware of the story) this guy HOMESCHOOLS his kids. He wasn’t complaining that his children were being forced to play this music. His kids don’t go to the school in question. He was just trying to stir up a little trouble. Guess he stirred up more than he expected.

the 5 question meme again

I have to say this is my favorite meme of all time. I am always interested in people's answers. Coming up with new questions is harder though.

1 -- Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 -- I will respond; I'll ask you five questions (different for each person.)
3 -- You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 -- You'll include this explanation.
5 -- You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

Library and The Great Courses

I started doing some research, and figured out that the most accessible library for me is in Sliver Spring. I decided to go visit today on the way home and get a card so I can start going though the catalog and figuring out which books to have sent to that branch. Apparently they lend out their magazines with the exception of the current issue, so I struck out on the Washingtonian again.

I like to listen to books on CD while I drive sometimes so while I was looking over their limited resources I hit the CD section. I found the coolest thing there. There is a company called The Teaching Company

I was able to get Medieval Heroines in History and Legend which seems to be pretty cool so far. I'm looking forward to listening to all 12 cds and will look forward to finding other sets.
