[sca] Investiture - No flyer but a site

The contract for the site got signed last night and the information got Spiked. It probably will take a day or two to go up the website. The full flyer will hopefully turned in today. I've asked that Lina post it to the Storvik List and I'll post it when she does.

In the meantime we're on a hold pattern for the polling. The candidate names have been sent to the Royals for approval - apparently we need to hear back about that before Llyr can request labels for the polling. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me, after all there will be a polling even if we have to use different names, but that's what I'm told. I'm starting to get concerned about the timeline since California has a reputation of being slow getting labels out. My understanding is we will have two weeks to get the polling back to the Royals. Then they need time to review the results and make a decision. Last time the Royals wanted to talk to each of the Candidates, which makes sense but means planning to get to an event the Royals will be at. Mental Note: His Majesty is scheduled to be at Holiday Faire. Granted we have almost three months until the event but it would be really nice to have the decision sooner in January rather than later. Of course I'm just being impatient. I'm sure everything will go smoothly even if I don't worry about each individual step.

On the other hand you guys can expect me to post regular reminders about the polling once it goes out. Last time we only had about 20 responses. Considering there are more than 100 paid members in Storvik that's just shameful.

Site information:

American Legion District Youth Camp - 9201 Surrats Rd, Cheltenham,MD 20623.
From Upper Marlboro, MD, take 301 south towards Waldorf. Go about 5 miles. Make a right on Frank Tippett Road. (Package store is right there at that light.) Then make the first left on Surratts Rd. The camp is about 1 1/2 miles on the left.

All the pollings are going equally slowly - I'm sure it will all work out in the end. ::returns to her seat of pins-and-needles::

True. It's not even anyone's fault, more of a combination of circumstances...

I'm glad to hear about the site contract and Spiking. That should help us get a decent turnout no matter who is chosen.

Hey, last time I submitted *my* polling, even though I was pretty darned new to the Barony and the SCA!

Heh. We're coming to your investiture... but not FOR the Investiture. As it were. (Not that the candidates aren't all nice people - just that that Other Thing is something I won't miss for the world! Even though I'm the autocrat for IB-12 and will surely be wanting a weekend off by then.)

I truly hope that your polling/Investiture process goes smoothly. It's a stressful time.

Yep - I'm looking forward to seeing Court. Even though I'm going to be in the kitchen no matter what I'm sure that the kitchen will be empty for a certain part of court.
